COLIN JP SCOTT
On April 16, 1973, Colin Scott began what would become one of the most distinguished careers in scotch whisky history. Known to many as the Master of all time, his journey spans five decades of unparalleled dedication to the art of blending.
Colin’s expertise earned him appointment as the fifth Master Blender in Chivas Brothers’ 200-year history in 1989. This rare distinction positioned him among an exclusive group of craftsmen who have defined Scottish whisky traditions across two centuries. His most celebrated creation came in 1997 with Chivas Regal 18-Year-Old, which established new standards for luxury blending and remains a benchmark expression in the category.
At The Last Drop, Scott leads bespoke blending experiences, combining rare casks to create unique expressions that reflect both heritage and innovation. His approach transforms individual components into cohesive narratives that capture decades of Scottish whisky tradition. Colin’s work demonstrates that exceptional whisky creation requires more than technical knowledge, it demands an understanding of how time, tradition, and craftsmanship converge to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
His ongoing work continues to push boundaries while honouring the fundamental principles that have guided his career since 1973. Through his dedication to excellence and his ability to mentor the next generation of whisky makers, Colin Scott’s influence extends far beyond his individual creations, shaping the future of Scottish whisky itself.
To mark a defining milestone for The Last Drop, Colin created Release No. 33 – a limited 40 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky that exemplifies his uncompromising pursuit of excellence. Crafted from rare and exceptional stocks, the blend includes grain whisky distilled at the long-closed North of Scotland distillery, once regarded as one of Scotland’s most characterful grain producers before its closure in 1980. This release stands as a testament to Colin’s belief that truly remarkable whisky is found only through patience, discernment, and an unwavering refusal to settle for anything less than extraordinary.
