Dropping In On... Christi Cahill:
PR Manager for Sazerac

Interview | June 28, 2024

“In my three years of working with The Last Drop, I have enjoyed some of the most remarkable moments of my career – so it is near impossible to choose just one!”

Today we say hello to another member of The Last Drop team: Christi Cahill, PR Manager for Sazerac, who looks after The Last Drop and many other spirits brands, including Buffalo Trace Whisky, from her base in the US.

While storytelling is at the core of Christi’s work, it’s the unique stories behind our remarkable blends that she’s most passionate about. Discover more about what Christi loves about The Last Drop and Sazerac in her interview below.

Tell us about your career so far?
I am a luxury spirits, lifestyle and travel publicist that currently manages the PR for The Last Drop and many more spirits brands at Sazerac – including the American Whiskeys produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery and Cognacs from Domaine Sazerac de Segonzac among others.

Prior to joining Sazerac, I led PR for international spirit and hospitality brands including House of Suntory, Bowmore, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Crystal Cruises and more while at various New York City-based agencies.

What does your position with The Last Drop Distillers and Sazerac entail?
At my core, I am a storyteller: I share the unique stories behind our brands to media and influencers, who then share these stories with consumers. We all know that taste is subjective and personal; however, the stories are authentic and real. One might not think they like ports in general, but it’s impossible to deny the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to try two ports from the same vineyard with one produced 100 years before the other, such as The Last Drop’s “Centenario” Duo of Tawny Ports.

In epicurean culture, one of the best ways to influence one’s perception beyond taste alone is via storytelling. And we have so many remarkable stories to tell with each remarkable Last Drop release.

As Rebecca always says, “age is not the defining factor that determines whether or not a spirit is worthy of bottling: it must have the perfect balance of character, vitality, rarity and, of course, remarkability.”

What has been your proudest/most remarkable moment while in your role?
In my three years of working with The Last Drop, I have enjoyed some of the most remarkable moments of my career – so it is near impossible to choose just one! That said, launching Release No. 28: Drew’s Blend was truly special as it brought together two of my favourite icons in the spirits industry: Drew Mayville and Rebecca Jago.

We hosted two events to debut this “perfect blend”, the first at The Twenty Two Club in London and another at The Polo Bar in New York City, alongside additional rare pours from The Last Drop. But the most remarkable aspect of these experiences? Hearing Drew and Rebecca together share what makes this blend and The Last Drop so special.

What’s next for you with The Last Drop Distillers/Sazerac?
We look forward to celebrating The Last Drop’s 15th Anniversary and 2024 Collection debut in the U.S. later this fall – stay tuned for more to come!

What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I am an avid runner: I truly believe it is the best way to explore any city, especially when free time is limited on business trips. When I am truly not working, I am likely somewhere near the ocean with my English Springer Spaniel – be it relaxing on the beach in front of my family’s home on Nantucket Island, chartering a cruise to warmer waters or hiking to a hidden beach or waterfall.
